DSSA’s goals are to increase the number of people with Down syndrome actively participating in the sport of swimming by:

  • Participating in school sport swimming
  • Joining Special Olympics and participating in regional, state and world games

ABOUT DSSA

Working with Sport Inclusion Australia

Since its inception DSSA has worked closely with Sport Inclusion Australia to enhance the lives of swimmers with Down syndrome. In 2021 DSSA formerly wound up as a separate organisation and continues to work under tha auspices of Sport Inclusion Australia to continue to promote opportunities for swimmers with Down syndrome.

SIA will continue to provide a platform for swimmers to represent Australia at DSISO International events. This opportunity is open for all swimmers with Down syndrome who are committed to the training and discipline required to be part of any team Australia.

DSSA is committed to support the Virtus pathway and new II-2 group which provides a fairer competition for swimmers with Down syndrome. We are pleased to see the introduction of this new class into the Swimming australia multi class comeptition as S18.
